Match Today : England v Australia, Ashes 09 1st npower Test, Cardiff : Day 3

England tail enders batted brilliantly to help the home team to put up a target of 435 runs in their 1st Innings. Australians started their battle but lost one early wicket of Philip Hughes but the unbeaten stand between Katich and Ponting really holds the Day for the Aussies. Both the Aussies player scored a brilliant hundred and scored 249/1 at the end of Day 2. Aussies really looking strong and the way they have started the Ashes series is quite well. They need to continue this good partition and bat the whole day today to get past the England total and take a good lead.

England started off the Ashes series by winning the toss and decided to bat first. Batsman have lived up to the team expectation and performed well on Day 1. England scored 336 for 7 with some good performances by Kevin Pietersen, Collingwood , Prior. In all a day that belongs to England but Aussies are not behind, they picked up early 2-wickets but England then stood up well with some good partnerships. All the main batsman are back in the pavilion so its only tail enders that are left. Aussies have to stop them for about 20-30 runs more and then have to bat full day to get past the total.

Ashes 2009 England vs Australia 1st Test Series Live Cricket Score

International cricket fans will celebrate the start of Ashes Test 2009 Series Tour of England once again. July 08 2009 is the day when Ashes 2009 Test Series will kick start at Cardiff England, but this time Australia team is minus the big brigade of Glen McGrath, Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist; so one can say that Australia is without their Ashes experienced players.

England has home advantage but is that enough to beat Australia? Because Ricky Ponting and men are hoping that the blend of youth and experience will help bring them the Ashes.
